Where do I go from here?

It might be helpful for you to make some contact with our Area Novice Guardian (ANG). S/he will be able to help you discern which path to take and point you in the right direction for being an enquirer at a Local Group Meeting. This will give you a flavour of who we are and what we do.The ANG will also have a copy of ‘Chasing the wild goose’ for you to read, which will give you further insight into the Order and the walk with Francis.

Quite a journey

Postulancy

If you decide to take the idea forward and feel as though this might be just what God is asking of you, there are one or two administrative steps to take with the Area Novice Guardian. You will have a local Novice Guardian appointed to assist your formal formation in the Order which begins at this stage. S/he will walk with you through the next steps of discernment. Postulancy normally last long enough for you to feel comfortable that this is really the way forward for you. There are inevitable forms to complete and documents to share. You will be received into the Order as a Postulant, receive a manual and start your walk ,alongside your Novice Guardian. You will also be encouraged to also keep a journal about your journey with us.

A Novice’s Tau Cross

Noviciate

The Noviciate is the next stage before you make a life commitment to the Order, consequently this is an important time of discernment for yourself and the Order. The Noviciate lasts for a minimum of TWO years, follows a pattern of working with your Novice Guardian, Local Group and the Area.   When you have completed the preparation and your Novice Guardian agrees, your name will be presented to the Area Ministry Team.and then forwarded to The Provincial Chapter for  election to Profession.

Profession is a life long commitment and we renew our pledge to the Third Order Society of St Francis each year.
